When I first started snowboarding there wasn't a lot of women's equipment. Nothing fit so I was always tinkering with my gear. The board on the right is an Air 4.5 I cut down with a hack saw into a shape I thought would spin better in the halfpipe. It was the best of both worlds: The narrower width and directional ex of a free riding board, with the lower swing weight of a twin tip. It worked so well the board product manager asked me if he could take it back to the factory and trace it. A year later he called and o ered me a job in product development. The shape went on to become a board called the Custom, one of the bestselling models of all time. Best of all, then I got to help design their first women’s hardgoods collection. #ProductDesign, #ProductDevelopment, #Prototyping
