Staff Picks of the Week: April 28, 2017
Eclecticism seemed to be the theme in all of the work we enjoyed this week on Coroflot. Maybe that's not technically a theme linking our five favorite projects together, but pretty much all of these share a sort of left-field approach on the part of the designers. We like it when people are not afraid to get a little weird and create something others would never think of. Such is the case with our top five projects from this week!
FearLess Q+A Bests by ANDREW DIXON
Created for Alex Bogusky's FearLess Q+A live weekly internet interview program, Andrew's delightfully bizarre illustrations capture the hosts in a variety of silly scenarios. His colorful caricatures also manage to avoid being too cutesy despite being cartoonish and loaded with pop culture references.
Wind Knitted Cushion by Merel Karhof
Part sculpture, part comfy adjustable pillow, the concept behind this cushion may be hard to wrap your head around until you see it actually happening. Merel includes a picture of her windmill literally knitting the cushion, but we also recommend seeing it in action HERE.
Lula's team has succeeded in designing a motorcycle that not only looks cool, but burns clean fuel. This electric bike requires no oil changes or spark plugs and is equipped with easy to replace parts, none of which affect the attractive design of the bike. We especially like how every step of this project is presented in detail.
Randolph Beer - NYC by Eli Hariton
There's nothing like a cozy dive bar to hide from the world and forget your troubles over a cold drink. Eli has designed what looks to be an ideal environment to drink a delicious beer. The classic look avoids any kind of faux-dive feel, and though this place is probably spendy given its location, it doesn't feel pretentious in any way.
Ferrous Animal - Furniture portfolio by Chris Melgar
Clean geometric shapes and integration with natural objects make them perfect for apartments and offices. The result is furniture that presents a beautiful visual contrast while still being functional.
