Staff Picks of the Week: April 7, 2017
Here at our office in Portland, Oregon we're ready for spring and summer, to say the least. It's been a long gray and wet winter. One way to deal with the dreariness is to surround yourself with vibrant colors, and this week the Coroflot community did just that. Each one of these projects features well-chosen, electrifying colors that are immediately striking. Most of these five projects are illustration and graphic design, and all of them feature excellent use of colors. We salute these projects for making the gray go away!
Yoga Superheroes by Ajo Galvan
Ajo's concept of superheroes doing yoga is simply adorable. Her color schemes are light and playful, and there is a cartoonish quality to these illustrations that serves them well. What's also impressive is that supposedly they were completed in under an hour.
Junie uses a peculiar texture pattern in each of her illustrations for this children's storybook and as a result she is able to play around with a unique color palette. We like how she uses different shades of blue, green, purple, and other colors to effectively convey the mood of the story.
Concept cars inspired by alcoholic beverages? Hmm, ok. Besides the obvious oddness of that idea, Kostas shows off some hot sketching work. The colors presented are fitting for a super flashy sports car and also bring to mind the inspiration: absinthe.
Grolsch cerveza by maikol de sousa
We're not really sure what these illustrations have to do with beer, but we dig them anyways. The ones that especially stand out are the first four in this collection. These ones bring to mind 80's art complete with sprinkle explosions, loud pastels, and flamingos. Rad!
Designing headphones and speakers is hardly breaking any new ground, but we like the sort of futuristic look of these products. Justin also does a fine job of showing his process as well as all of the components of the products. The blueish greens of the headphones and speaker are sleek and fresh.
