Staff Picks of the Week: February 17
The world is a crazy place right now, and often you need some way to distract yourself from the constant stream of news. For the Coroflot team (and probably for many of you who are reading this), solace can be found in the abundance of fantastic design work we encounter on a daily basis. Luckily for us, each week brings a handful of projects that are truly impressive. Here are the five projects that made us happy this week.
Ciutadella Rounded by Eduardo Manso
This handsome round font is particularly well suited for infographics, mainly because the rounded san-serif is so friendly to the eyes. Eduardo also presents us with a handful of different usage scenarios, demonstrating that it's a versatile font.
Slayer Steam by Christopher Flechtner
As cool as it sounds to name an espresso machine in honor of a legendary thrash metal band, this project is unrelated to Slayer. Nonetheless, it is seriously sleek and we love the way it borrows from the design language of transportation design. Now we're ready to slay a latte!
Arrowhead Design + Build + Supply by Andrew Drake
The use of natural materials makes these gorgeous pieces of furniture stand out. Beautiful joinery paired with stark steel work elevates the pieces to high-end, hand-crafted artisan goods.
Here's a smart idea for tracking luggage. Yufei's brightly colored concept weighs, tracks, and identifies luggage. We're honestly surprised if this hasn't been done already. We also like how we are shown the complete process of design.
Circle of Life - Can architecture live, die and reborn? by Vicky Chan, AIA
In this brilliant organic architecture concept, shelter grows and changes like living organisms. "It is a cradle-to-cradle design that combines art and science," says architect Vicky Chan. The appearance looks like a fantasy world that is also modern looking.
