Staff Picks of the Week: February 3
There is no clear theme linking each of our favorite projects this week. However, each of these displays both a clarity of vision and an obvious stylistic sensibility. It's refreshing to see designers approach their projects with so much confidence, and that is apparent in each of our top five favorites this week.
Popartoons drawings by Teodoru Badiu
These delightfully demented drawings are dark and political, making obvious references to the scary times we now find ourselves in. Beyond the statement the drawings make, Teodoru shows off some serious pointillism skills using a ballpoint.
At first glance this concept looks like some sort of grenade with its sleek design and metal matte finish. Don't be alarmed though, as it is in fact a super cool audio gadget. Minimal and futuristic, the AK is a multi functional device that includes earbuds, a charging case, and a Hi-Fi audio system.
Wild Wood @ Wild & Wolf by Dean O'Callaghan
The first thought we had when we saw these lively and adorable lamps was Pixar's Lux Jr. short. Seriously though, Dean has given us an example of houseware product design that is cohesive, bright, and loaded with personality.
Ergonomic Keyboard by Allison Marshall
The natural curvature of this keyboard design is attractive in its own right, but there is a tactile purpose behind this curvaceous beauty. The design is aimed at maintaining correct ergonomic posture and minimizing stress, which is something anyone with a desk job could probably use.
Paul's animated infographic is both informative and visually attractive. The vector work and line art are impressive, giving the video a retro look that is also iconographic.
