Staff Picks Of The Week: December 2
The beauty of the Coroflot community is the way it brings together creative-types from all areas and all levels of expertise. It is exciting for us to see the varying skillsets of design professionals around the world. That being said, what really blew us away this week was the high level of mastery on display. Each of our five favorite projects - though all very different - stand out for this reason. All of these projects represent designers at the top of their game, and that makes us happy.
ARCIMOTO EVs Gen6: Open-Air Concept Continued by Marcos Nolan
This multi-purpose vehicle is sort of like a dune buggy on steroids, and it's electric! What especially stands out is the Open-Air Frame, which gives the vehicle as much of a recreational quality as it does a utilitarian one. It appears that Marcos' role in this project for the Oregon-based Arcimoto was consulting and developing renderings.
Cam'ron Fleebok 2 by Chris Hill (Chrisco)
You had us at "pink pony hair". Chris designed these sweet kicks for Cam'ron as an ode to the rapper's famous pink mink. Besides the fact that they're fly as hell, these sneakers feature some surprisingly intricate details, like a "dip set" (whatever that is), Range Rover, and a fur hat hidden in the pink camoflage.
Mikhail developed this communication concept for the Glazov Furniture Factory, with the veneered letters representing pieces of furniture. The letters make up the words "furniture", "bedroom" etc, and they are positioned in order to resemble furniture pieces. Mikhail's work here is not just creative, but remarkably high concept.
Pre-Fall'16 SOEASY Moscow by Anna Roshchina
Maybe we're just fans of anything involving cats, but it's impossible to deny elegant construction and sharp silhouettes of Anna's work here. It's impressive and intriguing to see high-end fashion incorporating fun and unusual details.
Technology be damned, we love classic industrial design sketching! Kelly has presented us with such a perfect example of mastery of marker technique, line work, call-outs and elliptical perspective. A superb balance of communication, exploration, and personality!
