Staff Picks Of The Week: September 30th
This week we have been lucky to feature a little bit of everything, from video game design to architecture and seemingly everything in between. Sometimes it even feels like the quality of work posted to Coroflot gets better every single week. Then again, maybe our community members are just always posting cool stuff! Whatever the case, we once again find ourselves excited about the projects we've gotten to check out over the course of the week. Here are five of our favorites:
Génesis Linares demonstrates a well-coordinated palette, nice use of vector gradients, light-hearted character, and fun environments in these illustrations using Adobe Illustrator. Linares created the illustrations for a video game about the landscapes of Venezuela, and considering the work is for a video game to be played on a smart phone, it makes the artistic element that much more impressive.
Flex Intelligence by Alexis Marcou
This commissioned project for Flextronics Intelligence magazine is simultaneously forward facing and retro influenced, and the expressive lines give it a futuristic feel. We love seeing the process of a project, and Alexis Marcou displays that nicely with this one.
New Buffalo Residence by Erica Wannemacher AIA
An inventive approach to Midwestern architecture is taken with this bucolic Michigan home featuring expressive lines and purposeful use of structural elements and materials. Maybe it's the scenery, but even with so much open space, the New Buffalo Residence still feels cozy and inviting. The top notch, magazine-quality photos are also worth noting. Can we book this on Airbnb like right now?
Aluminum Seal Stamp by Bryan Wong
There may not be a lot of practical everyday uses for Bryan Wong's aluminum seal stamp, but that hardly matters considering the Brooklyn industrial designer made it as a wedding gift for his cousin. The stamps are carefully crafted and machined, and the bright colors of the "lucky Chinese red" feel appropriately romantic for such a special occasion.
Saab 'Iconnections' for 'Grand Designs' Live by Paul Thomas
Creative Director Paul Thomas researched and curated this touring event for Saab. Utilizing an immersive space, the event exhibited iconic historic images and objects to allow for a more interactive environment to learn about the car company. These kind of corporate events are often lame and uninspired, but this one actually seems like a lot of fun to check out.
