Staff Picks Of The Week: October 14
Once again we are wrapping up another week at Coroflot with smiles on our faces as we look back on all of the stellar projects posted by our members. Maybe we're just excited because the Coroflot 20th birthday is around the corner, but it seems like the quality of work has been at an all-time high as of late. The best part about that is the sheer spectrum of techniques and design styles being presented on a daily basis. This week we had guitar designs, stop motion character creation for a major film, and more. These are the five designs the Coroflot Team found particularly exceptional this week!
NFL Networks: Oakland's Own: Marcus Peters by Albert Lee
Done for a profile on Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters on the official NFL website, Albert's stylized illustration strikes a balance between realism and abstraction. The graphic treatment as a whole is truly powerful, successfully conveying the significance of Peters in the context of the story.
Leib did these pen and ink drawings by hand if you can believe it. The use of the pointillism technique is immaculate here and you can clearly see the shading value through the line work. These black and white images of horses, lions, and other animals bring to mind the portrait work in The Wall Street Journal, or even the drawings of presidents on American money.
Scandal Collection for The Limited - Fall by Tijana Beca
From the looks of it, Tijana played a major role in designing this collection. The collection itself is sophisticated and slightly retro in a good way. Tight pattern making allows this bold fashion collection to make a powerful impression. Tijana's presentation also gives us a thorough look at what this collection is all about.
Yamaha Revstar by Piotr Stolarski
This design goes to eleven! Piotr manages to nail the brand relevancy, or "Yamaha-ness", with his comprehensive, user-friendly design of the Revstar guitar. It's the first completely new Yamaha electric guitar range in almost two decades. This ax features a sleek design that is simultaneously modern and classic. Plus it has some sweet finishes. Rock on Piotr, rock on!
Kubo and the Two Strings by Tucker Piontek
Rapid Prototyping Animation Specialist. Does that sound like the coolest job ever? Tucker's work for the animated film Kubo and the Two Strings - much of which includes stop motion - is both adventurous and lively. His characters are colorful and expressive, and for this project he does a fantastic job of taking us behind the scenes of his process with production and character photos, film screenshots, and movie posters.
