Safety Respirator Mask

Senior Thesis Project

The number one reason for death from fires is respiratory failure. Over the past four years of school there have been three deaths from fires alone. I wanted to design a simple product that could help save the lives of so many people.

I designed the mask (Respire) for emergency quick escape situations. Its light weight portable shell and flex form outer rim creates a comfortable fit around any users mouth. The simplicity of the design and color choices allows the product to be gender neutral.

Along with the design of the mask, I also wanted to create a better filter system. This would allow better airflow and less chemicals to get into the lungs. The integrated fan allows airflow to be forced out instead of directly into the lungs. This also creating a vortex for the chemicals to catch on the outer filter more efficiently.
