My name Yasuo “泰夫” roughly translates to “peaceful guy”.
My American friends call me Yaz, while the British and European ones seem to prefer Yas and Asian ones Yasu.
Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan.
I discovered America in 1982.
In following 17 years I lived in Atlanta GA, where I entered the world of advertising.
I moved to NYC in 1999, survived East Village flats, 9/11 and the 2002 blackout.
In 2004 I relocated to the Netherlands and got into corporate branding.
6 years later, Shanghai was calling.
The rest is history.
...oh, one more thing.
For the love of Japanese films and Otaku pop-culture, I have been organizing since 2006 an annual Japanese film and culture festival called CAMERA JAPAN (www.camerajapan.nl) in the Netherlands. I act as a festival director/creative director for it. I started this with a German guy and a Dutch guy. It started out as a small event. Now after 11 years of its existence we have become the largest Japan-related event in the Benelux. Over 10,000 visitors come from various parts of Europe for our festival. We are very proud of it!
