Willy Chan is a New Jersey based industrial designer specializing in furniture and ceramics with experience in the merchandising and home goods. Earning a BFA in product design from Parsons School of Design and recently an MFA in Products of Design from the School of Visual Arts, Willy's work takes the form of practical products that solve design problems, rather than conceptual pieces. This is backed by his experience in design research and strategy gathering insights from the public and social realm. Willy has pursued independent studies in furniture, sustainable design, and more recently worked for ceramicist Jono Pandolfi, contributing to projects for Calvin Klein and Anthropology. He has also worked for Rablabs NYC that creates objects inspired by nature which fuse ancient, precious materials with cutting-edge design. In addition, Willy has done many contract jobs for companies such as Thomas Moser creating high quality leather furniture fused with timeless design.
In addition to physical work, Willy also works in multiple digital platforms including Rhino and Solidworks where he renders beautiful objects and concepts using Vray and Photoview360. He has experience and a history in both digital design, the hand made and design research. His appreciation for the handmade is heightened by his culture and Willy is currently looking for a company that values technology as well as respects traditional processes for manufacturing. He wants to join a strong team where he can make a positive impact on customer retention through quality products.
