I have 20 years of user interface design experience. My design career started in graphic design for print, evolved into website design, user centered design of desktop and web applications (consumer and enterprise) and mobile/tablet application design. I have additional experience designing for TV set top boxes. Whatever the platform, I produce work that is clean, high quality, relevant and effective.
While my primary areas of expertise are visual and interaction design I am well versed and can participate in all aspects of product creation from initial research to usability testing. I have particular expertise in the creation, documentation and implementation of design languages systems that support and enhance emotional connection to a brand ecosystem. As a senior designer at Cisco I lead the design and development of the Application Services Standards (enterprise applications)
My ongoing goal is to help create elegant, useful, and intuitive user experiences that help real people solve real problems and achieve their goals (ideally with at least a hint of a smile on their faces). I am a strong advocate and practitioner of design thinking to create emotional connections between people and products and/or services. I believe that good design is driven by empathy and curiosity and in this way I seek opportunities to serve humanity through design.
In my free time I continue to explore in my studio with whatever materials inspire me in the moment: paint, paper, fiber, thread, wood, metal. I am particularly interested in up-cycling, making beautiful things out of old potentially discarded materials or objects.
