I have worked for over a dozen brands for 4 teams Glen Dimplex Home Appliances (Belling, Stoves), Morphy Richards, Dimplex Group (Dimplex, Ewt, Auer, KKW, EDCO, JCB) and Redring Xpelair Group (Redring, Creda, Bosch, Galaxy, Nobo, XpelAir), designing for specific markets and brand needs. Responsibilities and major achievements include: > Mentoring junior designers and presenting creative direction to the board of directors. > Facilitation of model making on and off-site to tight deadlines for design decisions and exhibitions. > International travel to discuss briefs and manage design from several group companies. > Trend analysis and material research for the styling and design of group products. > My proactive analysis of Dimplex's most popular fire revealed an opportunity to redesign the actual flame effect mechanism. My design supplanted a year long development for a new flame effect. The patented design improved reliability and achieved substantial cost savings. > Designed a flagship product to present the award winning Opti-myst™ fire. My room divider was the showstopper at international exhibitions and in a first for Dimplex, it went into production and was put forward for a Red Dot Award. > Numerous products in production, including panel heaters, towel warmers, flame effect engine, inset and wall fires, portable household heaters, showers and accessories. 42

- Product Innovation Consultancy Product Designer The design department was created in 2002 with the senior product designer and me achieving and maintaining yearly growth. Responsibilities and major achievements include: > Gained considerable, wide ranging project and team working experience promoting a broad knowledge of user requirements, ergonomics, aesthetics and design for manufacture. > Secondment to The Technology Partnership, (a Cambridgeshire consultancy). > Present to clients and liaise with department staff, engineering, toolmakers, moulders and vendors to implement industrial design concepts. > Managed all aspects of projects from initial client meeting, time planning and proposal writing to timely delivery, budget and specification. > Accountable for end to end development from concept, through specification and samples to production. > Product diversification - expanded client core business product range. > Designed FMCG technical packaging - self-heat products and tamper evident systems. > Industrial and mechanical design of consumer and industrial goods, including material selection, tolerance stacking, sheet metal and casting design. > Mechanical analysis of pressurised trigger mechanism for patented spray system. > Developed floor cleaning machines from initial sketches to full prototype testing. Included quick release mechanisms for brush removal and portability, gear train design and associated product dispense and collection mechanisms - gaining company recognition for my work and a monetary bonus. > Inventor of patentable idea as part of a team developing a high accuracy dose-metering device with a major drug delivery device company. > Designed graphics, literature and branding to promote 42 Technology.
