Creating layouts and kerning text may not sound like the most exciting work to some but it sure does satisfy my soul! I genuinely love everything about design. I have never felt more in my element than when I am doing design work.
At Fruit of the Loom, I was responsible for designing packaging graphics for ladies’ and girls’ garments. I worked closely with the marketing and package engineering teams to meet the company’s goals. I had strict branding guidelines to follow on most projects. I did however work on some new lines of garment that needed fresh looks. This was a very fast paced job, I had multiple projects to work on at all times and several different marketing and packaging team members to answer to. I was responsible for the pre-press and proofing for projects I was assigned to.
I have a well-rounded working background consisting of; corporate office, customer service, retail work, and graphic design experience. Though I only have one year of graphic design experience on paper, consider that it took me nearly 3 years to find a good design job in my small town. During that time, I was still designing; for myself, friends, and family. I stayed in practice and kept my skills up to date. Also take into account my lifetime of creating art for fun! I am always creating something in my free time. On long drives or during boring conversations about politics I am thinking about my art and what I could create next!
I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in graphic design from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky. I also studied art and culture at Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea during the summers of 2014 and 2015. I am proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. I am always eager to learn new programs and consider myself to be very savvy with learning new technologies.
