Not a complete waste of time and money, but close to it. I've learned more by "doing" rather than being "taught". At the very least I have the diploma to hang on my wall.

Diploma Graphic Design And CommunicationsGloucester County Institute of Technology1990 - 1992In 1990- 1992 this program was still based on design and preparation for printing on an offset 4-color press. I was lucky enough to catch the tail end of that course of study so I was able to get an overview of the process as the world began to change with the introduction of Windows and the PC era. This course of study has since adapted and moved into the digital realm.

Assistant Skatepark Designer: Peck ParkSan Pedro Skatepark Association (S.P.S.A.)2011 - Present (14 years)I was asked by the S.P.S.A. to assist the design development process for the Peck Park Skatepark (slated for construction in early 2013.) I have helped to convey and streamline the various concepts and needs of the San Pedro skateboard community. I act as a designer, drafter and liaison between the skateboarders and the Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Landscape Architect who is running the project. We use any means necessary to communicate these ideas including hand sketches, illustrations, 3D models and CAD plans. We are currently in the fourth stage of design revisions and the park is shaping up to be an amazing collaboration. I hope to have a hand in creating a landmark destination that will stand for future generations of Southern California skateboarders.
