Walt Disney World Summer Jam ABC TV Special
By the late 1990s, Disney was looking to attract more visitation from teens and 20 somethings. I originated the idea of doing a branded tv music entertainment show from Walt Disney World that would spotlight the most popular young performers of the day - many of which had relationships with Disney. The formula - entertainment and story-driven segments -- allowed us to use music stars to draw a young audience and spotlight them enjoying the parks in new and exciting attractions. ABC agreed to air the show and it ran for three years - 1999 to 2001. I was the show creator/producer and oversaw all aspects - writing, talent acquisition, production. Featured stars included Britney Spears, N'Sync - featured in a segment selling ice cream!, 98 Degrees, BBMak, Destiny's Child, Smashmouth and Christine Aguilera. Disney enjoyed incremental advertising exposure with enormous coverage of the show in pop/teen star magazines.
