This portfolio displays many of the projects I have worked out throughout my college career. It exemplifies the work I've done, and displays some of my personal and professional attributes. I'm looking to advance my skills as a Mechanical Engineer and pursue a career focused in product design. Creating products that meet consumer needs and respect the environment into which they will be introduced is a passion that I wish to pursue in my future career.
In order to be successful in the competitive engineering field, I believe one needs to think creatively and generate ideas unique from items currently on the market, while maintaining functionality for the consumer. However, being able to define the qualities that makes one creative is a deceptively difficult task. Through this portfolio, you should get a glimpse of my creative essence, and my passion for this career path. -

Bachelors Mechanical EngineeringIowa State University2011 - 2015Throughout my time at Iowa State, I have focused my course work on areas that allow me to expand my knowledge and experience in design based engineering. I am interesting in the product development process, and how a product is developed from customer wants and needs to an end result. I am also pursuing a minor in sustainability to enhance my understanding of the effect of design on the environment and learn about improvements that can be made to design and production processes to minimize the footprint left on the Earth.

Undergraduate Research AssistantIowa State Multiphase Flow LaboratoryMay 2013 - Present (11 years 3 months)Through this experience, I got the opportunity to assist with designing and preforming experiments aimed at analyzing the mixing process occurring within a screw pyrolyzer. I got to work with advanced imaging systems, such as the x-ray visualization facility, to observe the effect of different variables on the mixing process. This experience taught me to make observations based off both qualitative and quantitative data to make predictions about a system, and gave me immense practice with problem solving and over coming obstacles to obtain a desired result.
