Remembrance - A final year thesis project, looking at the remembrance of loved ones. It is a design of symbolic gestures, introducing layers to the gestures of the design, heightening the feeling of preciousness in our memories of people, whom we hold dear to our hearts.
Remembrance, individual components
The outer box, wall - Thick walls protect the inner box from the outside elements. The sloping walls directs the attention to the inner box. A perimeter of space around the inner box gives particular attention to the box, raising its status.
Inner box, keeping the contents of the memories - A spacing of 1mm was maintained between the box and frame supports to respect the integrity of the box and its contents. The frame supports do not lock, but instead holds the box in place.
A sequence of steps, ritualistic - A series of steps in opening and closing the box, giving it a ritualistic quality through the form of the box. In going through the layers of opening, the memories and feelings of the person is also unfurled, reaching to the essence of their memories and emotion. Remembering.
