Freelance
Dec 2010 - Present (13 years 10 months)
In my freelance career I've made everything from logos to t-shirts, cd sleeves to websites. I truly enjoy doing freelance work because no two jobs are ever the same. The client and the clients needs change on a regular basis. I love working with new and upstart companies or companies that are seeking re-branding. I enjoy doing small projects and large ones. From printing a small batch of business cards for a local sales person or working on all of the materials for a large wedding, including invitations, rsvp cards, place cards and thank you notes. I enjoy photography and photo editing as well. I have had the privilege of restoring some old family photographs to their former glory as well as doing some really creative manipulations for a CD album cover.
Whatever the task, I am always looking for a challenge and an opportunity to learn and grow. Freelance work is so rewarding and challenging like that. I constantly and consistently need to make time to complete these tasks so time management and dedication are a must.

Lead Graphic Designer/Creative Director
Direct Display Publishing
May 2012 - Nov 2014 (2 years 6 months)
On a daily basis I create ads for clients to company specifications in a timely manner and proof them to the clients directly. Time management, organization and attention to detail are key. The ads I create go directly into multi-page magazines that I also am responsible for. I proof read all printed materials and develop in-house forms, standards and practices. Writing articles and creative content for these publications is not out of the ordinary. In addition to the books and ads I am personally responsible for, I orchestrate the production and organization of the digital files and expedite their process with the other designers. I set deadlines and review paperwork to make sure everyone is on track and the work is up to standard. I perform regular maintenance on the in-house printer as well as implementing the secure backup of our main database. I have also taken on the responsibility of the design and coding of all new websites and web updates for the company and subsequent publications.

Associate Sales Manager
PetLife
Apr 2011 - May 2012 (1 year 1 month)
I was in charge of opening the store for business, including counting the registers and cash box, cleaning and cross checking work from the previous night, feeding animals, receiving shipments and completing all of the necessary paperwork involved. Every week I would personally receive three deliveries of various items, from pallets of dog and cat food, to small impulse items and even cages in need of assembly. I would regularly be in charge of a team of at least two others to delegate tasks and cross check work. I generated weekly sales reports, performed inventory checks and processed expired or damaged items. In addition to general management my number one task was customer service. Every customer was to be greeted and offered assistance, I often used my knowledge of animal nutrition to assist a customer in choosing a new diet or treat for their pet that made them feel good and improved the health and happiness of their pet. As the Associate Manager it was my duty to manage all customer complaints and returns and ensure their satisfaction. At the end of the night it was my job to count down the registers, clean the floors, fix merchandise, prepare the deposit and ensure the animals safety for the night.

Independent Contractor (Web Design)
Laite Interactive
Dec 2011 - Apr 2012 (4 months)
I did web design for Laite Interactive as an independent contractor. It was my job to receive company specifications and other information, create the web design in a layered and organized .PSD document. Laite Interactive's other team members would present the design to the client, and note any changes requested. Changes would be made in a timely manner and resubmitted until the client's approval. I did not work on the web coding for this company.

Visual Associate
Macy's
Oct 2010 - Feb 2011 (4 months)
While working at Macy's I was part of a small integral team whose task it was to set up and tear down the floor and window displays of the classic and historic Macy's store. This beautiful building has 12 floors to decorate and countless areas of displays in the wall, in the window, on the sales floor, in the rafters and even among the shelving units. There were times when the job became quite physical, carrying large, awkward objects up a ladder to the over 20 foot high rafters on the main floor was quite a challenge but in the end was beautiful. Other times we were given smaller individual tasks with corporate instructions to complete to standards, and yet other times we were simply assigned a department and allowed our creative freedom. As a Seasonal Visual Associate for Macy's Downtown Pittsburgh I was an integral part of a team to decorate the iconic department store for the magical holiday season.
