Since March 2010 I have been working for Tedd Engineering a company that designs and supplies control systems for industry sectors such as Construction, Transportation, Marine and Agriculture. I have been directly involved in the design and marketing of various very successful products including a the radio remote unit and a complete set of controls for cars adapted for the disabled, examples of which can be viewed in my portfolio. Since the commencement of this employment I feel that I have gained invaluable industry, engineering and electronics experience as well as developing my design portfolio. I have also gained personal development skills such as confidence in presenting and clearly demonstrating my ideas, and working within a collaborative environment.
Skills
During my time as a design engineer I have developed and progressed skills in manufacture for injection moulding, bringing new products to mass production. Tedd Engineering's methodology relied heavily on the use of manufacturing methods such as CNC machining and vacuum forming for production and prototype purposes. The Bsc Design and Technology course offers a lot more than learning to draw and think with affluence, it has also helped me gain skills in engineering design, eco design, furniture design, shape design and a variety of additional industrial design projects. In particular, I have developed computer aided design skills (CAD). This means that I am able to understand not only the process of designing a product but in fact, the whole process of creating a product from the initial concept right through to the final manufactured product. Such skills have been solidified and developed during my time as an employee for Tedd Engineering. As a result of my experiences of the industry of design so far, I am looking forward to fulfilling my aspirations, with a career in the ever changing and constantly developing world of design.
