RSA Design For Oral Healthcare - 2004/05
The brief was to develop new brush features and design innovations for the Aquafresh brand of manual toothbrushes, without neglecting the heritage and established product language of the brand.
I based my ideas around incremental change, small innovations which had a marked benefi t for the user, with minimal impact on production costs. The concept I developed was the addition of a floss-bow and supporting stand to the base of the brush. The fl oss-bow is intended to be replaceable, its lifespan less than that of the brush. The stand has two options for the suction cup, allowing it to stand on a fl at surface or be stuck to a mirror or bathroom tile.
“Brushing alone only cleans about 60% of the surface of your teeth, so it is therefore important that you also clean between your teeth every time you brush. The most common way to clean between teeth is with dental floss”
