Strafe’s work can be categorised as ‘post-graffiti’ - a term that describes inner-urban street art that also encompasses other media and techniques such as wheatpasting, stickers and stencils. While Strafe’s works reference traditional hip-hop culture, they also contain nods to Modernist abstraction and the Bauhaus School, to Art Deco and Art Nouveau. She interrogates the decorative versus the meaningful, and is influenced by architecture, ideology, propaganda and iconography.
