I have 14 years experience across industrial design, installation design, and sustainable design research. These projects include; consumer products, furniture, lighting, installations, testing equipment, manufacturing/production machinery, fabrications & larger structural engineering projects across a wide range of materials. The majority of these have been locally manufactured, and designed as part of a small team, taking these projects from concept to delivery.
In 2020 I completed my MDes at Victoria University of Wellington. This research was focussed on the application of circular design methodologies to sofa manufacturing. I found this to potentially decrease the product's carbon footprint by 70%, and waste to landfill by 90%+. This was through maximising the durability, repairability, adaptability, and recyclability of parts at end-of-life. The 'Circular Economy Sofa' project won the L'affare Innovation in Sustainability Award at the ECC NZ Student Design / Craft Awards.
