Stephanie Johansson is a multi-disciplinary visual designer. Her mother hails from Peru and her father from Sweden; her roots in these countries and cultures have informed her design to be versatile and diverse. She applies both digital and analog craft; sourcing and creating materials in unexpected ways. Her work is playful, conceptual, utilitarian and expressive.
After studying at Paul Poiret for Costume Design in Paris, Stephanie graduated from Handelsakademie in Gothenburg, Sweden, concentrating her studies in Visual Merchandising. She speaks four languages, and is influenced stylistically by classical Parisian design, modern Scandinavian minimalism, and the bold colors of Peru. Her hybrid approach captures both modern and timeless aesthetics in a progressive, visionary way.
Recently, she has worked at CDW Merchants in Chicago to create and source custom materials for retail store props for fashion brands such as Guess and Vera Bradley. She styled CDW Merchants set design for catalog shoots, and subsequently archived their vast object collection. Stephanie also produced the design for the CDW Merchants and Keenpac booths for GlobalShop two years in a row, collaborating with a talented team of industrial and graphic designers. In 2016, Stephanie won the Outstanding Booth Award from VMSD Magazine for her dynamic, multi-functional design concept.
