As an artist, I have learned to look at the world through an artistic lens and find inspiration all around me. This allows me to think outside of the box and put creativity into everything I do. Interior Design has trained me to use my creativity to be organized and efficient with my time and resources.
My minor in Women’s and Gender Studies has taught me to step outside of my comfort zone, listen to other people, and see the world from a different point of view. It has also set fire to my passion for activism and making the world a better place. This past summer I participated in a cross-country cycling trip that raised funds and awareness for affordable housing. This trip has given new personal meanings to being dedicated and working hard. During each of the 76 days of my cycling expedition, I challenged my strength, perseverance, and willingness to step outside my comfort zone; all critical skills needed to help me succeed in everyday life. Participating in this service trip has taught me how to better interact with others and in turn has shown me how much can be accomplished when people successfully work together.
