Our project goal was simply stated, but very challenging: “Design a new pallet truck to compete in the global market. It must be extremely maneuverable, highly cost improved, with market leading performance.” What made this most difficult were the global Design requirements. The material handling industry has very specific cultural demands that have prevented any past success in universal product commonality.

The curved form of the skirt and beige front cover creates a compact power unit that facilitates maneuvering in tractor trailers and congested dock areas. North American model with simplified fabricated battery enclosure designed to withstand more abusive environments.

The field research lead to specific design objectives: Improve maneuverability by compressing the size of the truck. Create an easy to use operator interface while optimizing truck performance. Develop appropriate appearance, features and functions for the primary markets in Europe and North America. Design a sleek exterior that completely encloses the internal components and reinforces the qualities of being ‘approachable’ and non-intimidating. Provide excellent visibility to the fork tips and the pallet load.

The WP pallet truck earned iF, IDEA and reddot awards. The X10 control handle independently won iF and reddot awards.
