My name is Simon King. I graduated from Loughborough University with a 2.1 in BA Industrial Design and Technology, and have enjoyed employement both as a Product Designer, and as a Graphic Designer in my current role. I feel that this has given me greater experience in the industry, and feel that I have acquired a broad range of skills that will help me to be an asset to your company whatever role I am given.
I would consider myself a fairly social person. Having a positive outlook on life I enjoy meeting new people and enjoy going out and getting to know them. I enjoy working within a team, however I can also work effectively on my own when required. I am self-driven with a desire to improve myself and my work, and am willing to do anything to help this, such as my unpaid year in Industry. I have good organisational background, and am good at time management, working on many projects at the same time during both my degree and my year in industry.
I am reliable, tolerant and determined. I am sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel around the country and abroad for the company. I am keen for new experiences and responsibilities. I have a clean driving licence, and have been driving for 5 years.
I am currently single and living at home. However, if I was successful in this application I would look to move to a location that would be closer for the commute. Living in Epsom, however, there are no problems commuting from my current location, as London is only around 45 minutes on the train.
When it is required I am able to work outside of normal office hours. I am able articulate my opinions and communicate effectively with both clients and other members of the design team. I am very confident using a range of design programmes, both 2D and 3D. I can confidently use a range of programmes from the Adobe Suite, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and Flash. I can also use both ProEngineer and SolidWorks for 3D designs. Am also comfortable using Office programmes, and consider myself to be a very quick learner and feel that I could quickly learn to use any new programmes that I am not already familiar with.
Overall, I would consider myself to be a well rounded person who would both benefit your design team, but also benefit from the experience that I would gain while working with you.
