I've been working in visual design, interactive design and usability for fifteen years.
After film school, I wound up in the Philippines, serving as cameraman on a documentary on the Filipino “Jeepney Culture.” I don’t know if the show ever made it to Cannes, but I do know that I can: 1) survive a fall off a moving vehicle, 2) fix a Sony BetaCam in a rice paddy and 3) improvise a coaxial cable if needed. It was simply one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had.
During the early 2000s, I was Director of Interactive Media for a financial-services marketing company located in right outside of Boston. I spent six years there, and helped to bring it from a three to a twelve person company. My role was as Creative Director, Art Director, mentor, production designer and morale officer, and I strove to make it a comfortable, professional environment for my fellow mates as well as for clients who came a-calling.
I received my MSHFID at Bentley University (with distinction). I worked in Bentley's Design and Usability Center for two years, and what I learned about usability and how I can integrate it into visual design is amazing. The experience and learning have been simply remarkable, and I am excited to continue the process of learning and implementing good usability design.
At present I am a Senior UX Designer with a "big data" company focused on customer loyalty and satisfaction. My responsibilities include developing and defining the User Experience practice in a global company, and I am responsible for the research and design for several internal products which are being used by companies around the world. Previously I have been a UX Designer at ACI Worldwide, where I helped to develop proprietary payments software, and a Senior UX Architect at TIAA-CREF, where I helped to drive formative research and usability initiatives which will hopefully continue to positively change the way people think about interacting with their finances.
