Freelance Illustrator
2010 - Present (14 years)
In addition to my education, I have had significant experience in many facets of illustration through my various internships. Working with with Tony Aikens, I was able to demonstrate and improve my knowledge of illustration, enhance my communication skills, and work in a collaborative environment. Further, I had a hand in the final creation of penciled pages through the creation of layouts for Tony Aikens through the scripts he received. Continuing with my work experience, I also went on to expand my skills in drawing/coloring for Lucy Knisley's independent comic series. Acting as assistant, I learned to work hand in hand with the lead creators to create, compile, and organize various projects. I gained the experience of the rigorous workflow as well as the understanding of what goes into being an Illustrator. My other illustration experience included working with the publisher and author of a children’s book called “Halloween”, which is going to be published in October 2013. I also worked as an illustrative intern for the Shedd Aquarium, in which I had a chance to work alongside the head creative minds. I recently just finished lettering and coloring a comic for Image Comics that is supposed to be out later this year. It's called "Soldiers of Sin".
