During my time at Neville Johnson I was based at the headquarters in the staircase drawing office. My main role was as a staircase designer however I was also involved in some of the administration work and training within the department. Whilst at Neville Johnson I designed around £900,000 worth of staircases. The main part of the job was drawing up the staircases in Solidworks to a high level of accuracy and detail to ensure a perfect fit as well as ensuring the staircases meet regulations and building standards. My role also involved doing the costings and the bill of materials.

Live Project
Preston, United Kingdom
Sep 2014 - Jul 2015 (10 months)
An opportunity arose for myself and seven of my course mates to work with Lunar Caravans on a live project. The opportunity involved designing a new range of small caravans targeted at a younger more active user (20-35) The project provided the opportunity to remove the bad stigma that is wrongly attached to caravanning and bring caravanning back as a popular holiday choice amongst the younger market.
My project was focused around designing modular furniture solutions for the microvan, which would tackle the space issues efficiently whilst not sacrificing style and comfort. I came up with the ‘Nest’ concept, which is an adaptable unit that can be changed from a bed to a lounge area into a dining area and a number of other arrangements with a few simple movements. An exterior was also developed of the microvan, which can be found on my portfolio along with the Nest unit.

Live Project
Preston, United Kingdom
Jan 2014 - Mar 2014 (2 months)
In January 2014 I was part of a live project with the playground company Playdale. For the project I was required to design a range of outdoor playground instalments. Throughout the duration of the project a number of reviews were carried out in which concepts were proposed and feedback was given. At the end of the project in March two final concepts were proposed to the design team.
