Interactive Light

I've come to notice that as adults we begin to loose the curiosity and excitement that we once saw as children. Our idea of play and exploration has undeniably changed dramatically as we've grown.

Inspired by a single word 'Interaction' - I wanted to re-explore this curiosity and see what was possible with materials and how they could be used to make a switch more than just a button, but an integral part of the design. The result was this wooden light that when laid on its back with the lights visible is off, but when turned onto its front, the lights turn on with the reflection of the light off the surface visible to the user.

I wanted to create a light that was to be used in a social area and became part of the experience in a sense of its interaction as well as its mood lighting effect.
