Graphic Designer | Intern
Marquette Board of Light and Power
Jan 2013 - Oct 2013 (9 months)
My graphic design internship with the Marquette Board of Light and Power involved working with the historical committee to design promotional materials for the company's 125th anniversary. I designed a built-in display for a timeline of the company's history, which houses antique and vintage photos from throughout the MBLP's history. I spent hours in the attic digging (carefully) through 100+ year old photos and documents to find just the right pieces for my projects. I Researched the company's history through photos, telegrams, record books, etc. Then I selected, scanned, color corrected antique photographs and documents. I designed a calendar, and negotiated with printers through process. I also created a design for a built-in timeline display case for the office lobby.

Senior Student Designer | Intern
Northern Michigan University Communications and Marketing
Aug 2010 - May 2013 (2 years 9 months)
Working as a graphic designer at Northern Michigan University provided me with irreplaceable experience. I honed my design skills everyday while using Photoshop and Indesign to create posters, newspaper ads, brochures, magazine graphics, and social media graphics. I also gained real-world experience on how to work with professionals of all occupations, while answering phone calls, keeping files and photos organized, and working on event planning. I learned how to use Drupal to update the university's website, as well as how to use Final Cut Pro to edit short videos.

Hobby Lobby
Jun 2008 - Jul 2010 (2 years 1 month)
I helped customers find products for their creative projects, but I also felt that I helped to inspire people to go above and beyond what they thought was possible for their ideas. I used my artistic personality to give feedback and advice on projects and supplies based on my own experiences outside of working at Hobby Lobby. I also practiced my people skills, phone skills, math skills (manual cash registers, no scanned bar codes here!)
