How To Train Your Dragon Franchise Website

Dreamworks Animation needed a website to not only launch the second movie in the popular How To Train Your Dragon series, but a real franchise destination portal to house everything Dragons for years to come.

A responsive “tablet first” approach with the site design makes the touch interactions easy for even the youngest in the family audience. Keeping things fun and fully accessible, the COPPA-compliant execution allows any user to vote up their favorite content across the site experience, while games and other Dragon activities – including a daily Dragon Card Challenge game – allowed users to challenge themselves and reward their friends for regular game play.

I was responsible for user experience strategy, user flows, site maps, and wireframes. I collaborated on the Card Challenge game play strategy then designed the game interfaces and card layout, working closely with design and development to iterate and tune gameplay and card design.

The franchise site launched 03/2014
