A terracotta fruit bowl. The fruit stays cool underneath the terracotta cover through evaporative cooling: water in the outer reservoir soaks up through the porous material of the lid and then evaporates.
A first model of the fruit bowl, made by local craftspeople.
Bamboo is a great material: it grows fast and is resistant to the humid tropic weather. However, in Vietnam it is seen as a material for the poor because it's so abundant. With this lamp I explored how bamboo can be used in its most natural way in a functional product.
The larger brother of the bamboo lamp, still in the factory where I made it with help of a local woodworker.
A wooden stool, inspired on the abundant plastic chairs.

For Future Living Studio I spent 3 months in Saigon, Vietnam working in an international team of designers and local craftsmen. The goal was to create a diverse collection of products in which vietnamese craft tradition and western design views would come together.
