About
Robin F. Baker began his career in New York City as a graphic artist and illustrator for The Book-of-the-Month Club while attending CUNY Tech in Brooklyn. After receiving his AAS in advertising with Phi Theta Kappa honors in 1985, he became the sole graphic designer for K-III Directory Corp. (formerly ITTP) in 1988. Upon receiving his BFA from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in 1990, he was promoted to Art Supervisor and then to Associate Art Director — managing 6 artists and supervising digital production, purchasing and accounting for the Art Department.
To gain broader knowledge of his field, he went independent in 1995 — working for various N.Y.C. advertising and publishing studios to great success until leaving for Europe in 2001 in an effort to expand his personal creativity. It was during this time that he turned himself into a writer, composer, performer and award-winning music video & Flash animator. Returning with these skills to the U.S. in 2005, he set about to more effectively contribute his services to the market-at-large with concentrations in design and presentation graphics for both the pharmaceutical advertising and legal industries.
AWARDS
On his first attempt at Flash animation, Robin Baker received the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival Award (NYIIFVF) for Best Animation in 2004 for his 4:22 length music video entitled 'Whiplash'.
