I take great professional pride in driving growth through design. With Marvel Entertainment in their Toy company, Toy Biz, Inc., I help propel a basic start up from a struggling niche survivor to a worldwide toy aisle destination for kids and collectors alike. With Fisher•Price/Mattel I helped a small dedicated team of Marketing and Product Designers take a cast-off category of seasonal offerings and turn it into an 80 million dollar segment that had pushed its way into 5 new venues of incremental growth.
Doing this with good people who I took pains to nurture and help grow in my tutelage was and still is a career highlight for me. Defining how a design team should work and what processes should be built and implemented to help grow a business while still leaving room for designers to design and execute their vision was one of my biggest challenges; and one of my nicer accomplishments.
