Gropen is a full service design build and install firm working within the signage and environmental graphics industry.

As a designer at this small firm I am involved in every phase of a project from conceptualization to realization through graphic design production and installation coordination.

My clients vary from small artists, business owners, trades professionals, to small and large design firms. My typical duties include but are not limited to: specifying appropriate materials, production methods, and installation methods. Creating conceptual but producible designs. Creating production ready digital art files. Creating files and appropriate documentation for CNC machining. Creating appropriate technical drawings and other design documentation and responses for projects requiring formal submittal processes. Coordinating project installation. Verifying that my designs abide by applicable code such as building and ADA code. Creating and submitting permit applications. Performing needs assessments for interior and exterior signage.

I am a freelance designer navigating the unique challenges and benefits of designing for 100% solar off- grid product manufacturing. I am currently working with a team developing energy-efficient manufacturing solutions, new products for off-grid manufacturing, and organizing a new product launch and PR campaign for the Solarmill brand.

I process timber and fabricate and finish a variety of wood products & contemporary wooden furniture. I am prepping and designing pieces for the 2016 Charlottesville Artisans Studio Tour.
