Product Development Engineer
Melbourne, Australia
Sep 2018 - Present (6 years 3 months)
Clevertronics is a leading manufacturer of emergency lighting products. My role
requires me to deliver the products/solutions that meet the Product
Specifications from a range of different lighting categories. I work closely with the
Electrical Engineers to determine their requirements and how to incorporate
them seamlessly into the product design. Using a combination of sketching, 3D
modelling & rendering I am able to design products that not only function but are
aesthetically pleasing.
I have also worked on custom light fittings for premium architectural projects
such as the Sydney Opera House and more recently a new range of architectural
emergency exits that will be launching into the UK/European market. These
projects require very specific requirements from architects and specifiers,
therefore, require a lot of attention to detail to ensure the solution integrates
seamlessly into the building design. Working with clients like these has given me
experience in working to tight deadlines without compromising on product
quality. Through this role I have refined my skills in;
● Designing using different manufacturing techniques for both mass & low
volume production such as injections molding, sheet metal fabrication,
aluminium die casting & extrusions, Laser Cutting, CNC machining
● Designesign aesthetics, by designing a range of different
components/products from enclosures for batteries & PCB’s to emergency
exit lights. These all have various design challenges that involve designing
around the electronic hardware whilst ensuring aesthetics are not
compromised.
● Management and communication, by managing projects that include input
from other engineering disciplines such as electrical/software I have had to
ensure that all my colleagues working within the project are working
together to achieve the goal of delivering a product that meets the design
specifications and compliance regulations

Mechanical Designer
Melbourne, Australia
Apr 2013 - Sep 2018 (5 years 5 months)
Rollease Acmeda is a global manufacturer of high quality window furnishings. In
this role I designed a vast range of internal mechanisms requiring strong
engineering design principles as well as the external window coverings to suit a
range of different styles. Most notably I was involved in designing the new range
of external roller blinds which included the visual elements as well as the internal
spring mechanism and an automated locking mechanism. This was all showcased
at the R+T Trade show in Germany which I was chosen to attend and assist in
promoting the new designs. During my time at Rollease Acmeda I also;
● Worked on selecting compatible materials to reduce friction/wear & noise
for moving components as well as materials for high strength applications
● Further advanced my skills in prototyping and rapid tooling techniques for
gaining speed to market
● Assisted in the development of project briefs and timelines and worked with
key stakeholders to come up with strategies for achieving key projects
deadlines
● Worked with Marketing department to deliver documentation such as
Flyers/Installation Manuals and training material

Product Development Engineer
Starmaid Group
Melbourne, Australia
Feb 2011 - Mar 2013 (2 years 1 month)
My role at Starmaid Group involved the design/development of microwave
cookware, plastic food/storage containers and cleaning products. Having both
an in-house tooling room and injection molding production I was able to gain
great insight into the design and manufacturing process.
