I am a multi-disciplinary designer with experience in many different design fields. In fact, I had two majors in college - Industrial Design and Graphic Design - because I simply couldn't choose one over the other.
I enjoy both the 2D and the 3D aspects of design, and often find that they overlap and influence each other. Catalog design needs to have good aesthetics, but also must be focused on the user interaction and information hierarchy to be truly successful. Likewise, product design is greatly affected by small detail choices such as decorative elements, finish and texture, and proportions.
I have worked in many different environments, from a small consulting design firm to part of a large in-house design group, and a mixture of both.
My most recent employment featured all of the above, and more. I was the in-house product designer for a residential lighting and ceiling fan distributor. We worked directly with our team in China to source and manufacture these designs, and I have extensive experience in research, concepts, refinement, drawings, samples, and review in China for manufacturing. I also have conducted market research locally, nationally, and internationally to understand the trends and markets for which I design.
