Gigi Polo is a Dominican designer who graduated from the Communication Design Department at Parsons The New school for Design in 2005. Upon graduation she launched her studio—Myellow Boots—offering services to small and starting businesses in retail, and to publications such as Domino Magazine, The New Yorker, and RedBook Magazine, among others. Interested in raising awareness, she has actively collaborated with non-profit organizations in NYC, such as "Invest Yourself", "WHBID", and "Artfully Unforgotten".
As a filmmaker, Gigi is interested in exploring human behavior, mental health, and social dynamics, and attempts to fuse art and science to translate scientific findings into visual bites of human experience. She directed, produced, and edited a documentary about Bipolar Disorder and the Artistic Temperament called Madly Gifted (www.malygifted.com), which has been screened for the American Psychiatry Association Annual Meeting in Hawaii and New York City, and as part of the exhibition "Bajo Mi Sombrilla" (Under My Umbrella) in Dominican Republic.
Gigi is an adjunct professor at Parsons, and has taught abroad at Altos de Chavón, the School of Design and the Museum of Modern Art (MAM)—both located in Dominican Republic.
