Swoon Sewing Patterns are one of the leaders in the soft goods home sewing pattern industry. Their designs are timeless and classy, yet simple. Swoon sponsored a contest called the Swoon Patterns Make of the Month and I felt compelled to enter in a design I modified off of their Annette Purse Pattern. I opted to work off of the satchel size, and utilized the unique shape of the bag, with the side pockets, to recreate a Balenciaga-inspired silhouette. The entire exterior of the bag is a velvet upholstery. The interior of the bag is pure cotton, coated with a polyester overlay, for ease of hygiene and cleaning. I modified the exterior of the bag to have corded handles, as well a flap closure with a playful bow tie detail, stitched on to the purse, for security. The interior of the bag features a simple compartmentalized open pocket, and a hidden zipper pocket window.
