I was challenged by a client to create a miniature canvas crossbody tote, that utilized a rustic, yet high-end and contemporary vibe. The challenge was the design of the textile itself, as the tote needed structure, yet the rustic exterior of a duck or marine canvas. I developed a dogwood denim similar to other dogwood denim as, however, this denim incorporates cotton, as well as suede velvet strands woven into the fibers. The tote also focuses on a simple design, as not to mimic R. Riveter, but still provide a minimalistic aesthetic that the client would be able to screen print a logo or attach an appliqué to.
