Living in Taipei for more than 20 years, I’ve always thought fashion is the only thing interests me. Until the year 2007 when I left everything behind and moved to New York city. Started another amazing journey, I found myself not only pursuing good taste on fashion but also lifestyle. To elevate our quality of lives is what I’ve learned in New York.
When I moved to New York, I decided to study in Communication Design, which is totally different from fashion design. I was struggled at the beginning in Pratt Institute, quickly learned that every design has to be an answer to a specific problem, you cannot just throw a bunch of designs and call it a day. After my graduation in M.S. at Pratt, luckily I found a full-time job during the notorious Financial Crisis in New York.
Been working at abc carpet & home for 3 more years, I’ve learned marketing and advertising skills in a bigger scale of corporation. It never brings me trouble working with my co-workers with different cultural background and language, and I’ve always tried to blend in the New York, be a real New Yorker.
7 years of wandering in New York, takes me away of my insecurity of life when I was a 20 something girl, it was an amazing experience in my life. In 2014, I started to think; all I have is given by Taiwan and I would never con- sider New York as my hometown. Like my father used to say “ Falling leaves settle on roots”, no matter what all the passengers will return to home, and so will I.
After moving back to Taiwan, I notice that people start to aware of design/good taste here. I’m very excited to be a part of it, to make a better life. With my background and working experience, hopefully I can devote myself to my beloved hometown.
