After a year and half spent traveling the country and penning a novel, I am more focused and educated on the industry's unfulfilled business opportunities. There are many ways to profit financially while also improving the world we live in.
I have ten years of experience with managing many aspects of Apparel Design, Brand Development, Team Management and Interpersonal Relations, in the Los Angeles corporate fashion industry. I've designed collections for many industry sectors, from Juniors, Young Contemporary, Gothic Alternative, Action Sports, Surf & Skate, Urban Street, Lingerie & Lounge, and Mens. I'm well acquainted with programs used in the design world, from the Adobe Creative Suite to Microsoft Office, as well as WebPDM.
I am especially committed to new and innovative organizational techniques and practices, by creating and maintaining higher levels of structure to existing elements. From CAD and sketch indexes, to wash libraries with listed techniques needed, to file name standardization codings, there are many ways to better prepare so as to lessen the amount of time spent on any given activity. If the proper elements are available and ready to use quickly, many stages of the apparel design process are significantly quickened. In short, I identify problems, and then fix them. (While maintaining a pleasant demeanor of kindness and compassion, because after all, we're all only human. I believe I grow, when those around me do, and that teams achieve much when they enjoy working together.
I have expert knowledge in washed denim and hard woven techniques and processes, with much experience working directly with factories and wash houses to create samples of all cost structures look the best possible. I've colored and created repeat print patterns for digital printing, belt printing, and screen printing, as well as original embroidery artwork and placement graphics. I am excellent at creating cohesive branding packages that call out all technical details, from logos to materials. I did a new brand launch at Project/Magic Las Vegas, which included a booth design layout, posters for the event, lookbooks of clothing items with relevant details listed, flyers for passerby's, and a press pitch packet to send to magazines and potential celebrity ambassadors. I also designed the entire collection for the launch, merchandise it to match chosen target customer's needs, and worked with factory workers and wash houses to produce all desired products. I have thorough technical design experience as well, from spec-ing garments to fittings and fit comments, to visually illustrating all necessary measurements and desired stitch details to have clothing made in a factory. I am a seasoned departmental liaison mediator and I am knowledgeable of dye processes and specialty denim washes, as well as how to communicate various changes. I enjoy fashion illustration and flat sketch creation, as well as mood board and collaging.
