Over the past 11 years I have held multiple front line and management position in the hospitality industry. Although not directly related to core requirements industrial design I have obtained several skills such as team building and leadership, budget setting, and conflict resolution which are useful supplemental skills for an industrial designer to have. Communicate with customers via phone and email to help resolve issues related to military grade firearm accessories. Inspect and either repair or replace defective parts. Work closely with Quality Control and the Engineering teams to identify flaws in both design and manufacturing process. Make recommendations for design improvements.

There is no better place to learn how to cold read a person and understand what they are looking for quickly then as a carnival game operator. This skill, plus becoming confident selling my product to a crowd, have proven critical components to my success with user based research and oral presentations. Six flags is also where I had my first success designing solutions to a problem for a specific user.
