Graphic Designer/3d Modeler/CNC Programmer
Medalcraft Mint
Green Bay, WI
Apr 2013 - Present (11 years 11 months)
Graphic Designer:
Take a varying level of direction from customers through the sales team to create custom designs for a multitude of different products within daily deadlines. Die struck metal coins and medallions are one of the most common projects. Art requests generally will give 2-D design concepts and require me to create proofs “3-D” in appearance. Create mocked up “3-D sculpted” proofs before the final vector art and images would go to the 3D Programmers to create the dies. Show how products would look once personally customized such as showing products in display packaging, crystal etchings and engravings. Create custom art for die struck coins, medals, keytags, lapel pins, badges, belt buckles, coasters, ornaments etc.
3D Modeler/CNC Programmer:
Take customer approved proof of product and use the images and vector files the artist prepared to create a 3D model of the 2D rendition on the proof. Once the 3D model has been created, then flip the art to be inverted in the Z axis and flipped in X/Y axis to be carved into the die. Program and toolpath the file for the CNC machine by selecting different tools and paths the tools take using many strategies of different speeds, feeds, overlaps and depths. Save out the render of the toolpathed image for the client’s approval. Once the image is approved, save out the toolpath program in three different formats for three different types of CNC machines. Fill out appropriate paperwork for CNC Operators and file the program for production.
Marketing:
Create digital content for the company website, SEO images and social media posts. Design email blasts for different targeted demographics. Create corporate branding standards to give materials a cohesive appearance. Re-design the company catalog. Design production ready files for coin cards, business cards, post cards, package inserts, flyers and other promotional print pieces all within printing standards.
