My name is Michael Porteous and I am currently a level 6, third year student at Algonquin College in the Applied Museum Studies program. During this educational experience, I have been expanding my skills and knowledge for the handling, preservation, researching, cataloging and data entry for cultural material. In addition to my skills and post-secondary education I have recently been working as a security system professional where I have been employed as a technician to install and service monitoring systems that protect residential and commercial assets as well as client’s well-being. In addition, I have spent time as a volunteer working with the Osgoode Township Museum collection and contributing my services to the Vernon community.
I demonstrate a strong work ethic and take initiative when undertaking tasks independently and when working in a group setting. These qualities have been an asset throughout my work experience and have helped me to complete complicated tasks while maintaining a strong relationship and positive reputation with clients and fellow colleagues.
