Matthew Gilliland is an Illustrator, Designer and Fine Artist based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His work runs a gamut from modern fine art and historical illustration to consumer product design.
His work has a style that is both naturalistic and descriptive, often relying on painstaking historical research to create an air of authenticity. In addition to being passionate about historical subject matter, Matthew is also known for creating works in styles of art contemporary to their historical subjects.
After serving in the U.S. Army and graduating from the Art Institute of Dallas, Matthew built a fruitful career as a concept artist and illustrator in the toy and novelty product industry. Years later, Matthew discovered that he had a passion for teaching art when he went to work “bringing art to the masses” for Pinot’s Palette. Teaching at Pinot's Palette paved the way for further work as a high school art teacher.
In addition to designing consumer products, fine art and historical illustration Matthew us currently working towards his Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Oklahoma.
