Painting was my first love.
I was born in Barcelona, Catalunya, in 1987. My first serious experience in crafts was in high school. I attended L’Escola d’Arts i Oficis Ondara beginning in 2004, where I molded a porcelain doll clothed in a 60’s denim outfit, among other projects. I was taught by Minguell Miret, a fabulous painter and teacher.
Following high school, I attended L’Escola d’Arts i Oficis Llotja, a respected arts college in Barcelona, where Picasso studied in 1904. During those four years, I was fortunate to have great teachers—some of the most charismatic and bright minds of that time, specializing in urban arts. There, I created my first fashion line, calling it Alussa Foil by Maryna Eme. During the same period, I began my first internship as a digital pattern maker at Custo Barcelona, where I was responsible for the technical part of clothes construction.
My next professional step in the industry was in the role of Lingerie and Loungewear Designer at Oysho S.A., at Inditex Group in Barcelona. This period lasted for two years. Working in the design department was valuable experience in getting out seasonal fashion collections which were competitive in the international market. It was at this time that I began to feel a growing passion and direction toward designing exquisite, delicate lingerie for modern women. Soon afterward, a personal challenge steered me to a big decision to leave my country and move to the United States, in particular, San Francisco, with the idea to further my education, pursue my career and start an independent undergarments firm label, which currently I own called; Marina Solé.
Currently, graduated from an MFA in Fashion Merchandising of Academy of Art University in San Francisco 2016. Founded in 1929 by Richard S. Stephens, it is considered one of the most important schools for a master’s degree in Fine Arts and Design in the U.S.A.
