My time spent with Display By Design consisted of assisting Designers, contacting and ordering from suppliers as well as completing order forms, helping out with estimating for projects by filling out costing sheets on excel. I also created job sheets for the factory which involved using current 2D AutoCad drawings and producing 3D visuals, and filling out the manufacturing process for the parts. My project manager also allowed me to do a practise exercise of designing a counter top spinner for a brand, from concept through to costing and final visuals to a client. This was a great exercise of project management by keeping to deadlines and seeing what I was capable of creating in a short time frame.

Customer Sales Assistant
Brantano
Jul 2010 - Sep 2010 (2 months)
At Brantano I learnt about about merchandising stock, warehouse stock checks and management of stock levels. I had the opportunity to gain some visual merchandising experience, as my manager knew I had a keen interest about learning this expertise. She gave me freedom to explore product layouts and placements within the back to school range. I was commented on my natural ability to know where the best place products should go, and visually look more engaging for customers. This also allowed me to demonstrate my skills in fitting out new displays, and changing existing ones.
As a customer sales assistant, I was responsible for greeting customers and generally helping out with any queries they may have. This was accompanied with fitting and measuring children's feet, to ensure they wore the correct shoe size and had a good experience whilst finding their 'new pair of school shoes' to be able to do this correctly and sufficiently I completed a approved Hush Puppy training course.
